Marie-Theres Ley

Marie-Theres Ley (born February 27, 1940 in Cologne ) is a German politician and former member of the state parliament ( CDU ).

Life and work

After attending elementary school and high school with the Abitur , she studied at the University of Cologne. In 1962 she took the first and in 1965 the second exam for teaching at elementary schools. In 1971 Ley passed the specialist examination for teaching at secondary schools. She worked in school until 1995.

She has been a member of the CDU since 1974 and is represented on numerous committees.

MPs

From June 1, 1995 to June 2, 2005 Ley was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia . She was elected from her party's reserve list. On November 19, 2009, during the 14th electoral period, Ley again moved up to the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia.

In 2005 she ran as a direct candidate in the Cologne I constituency , where she lost 0.6 percentage points to the SPD candidate Ingrid Hack .

She was a member of the City Council of Cologne from 1989 to 1995.
