Marie Benešová

Marie Benešová (born April 17, 1948 in Prague ) is a Czech politician.

Life

From 1999 to 2005 she worked as a senior public prosecutor in Brno . Benešová was a member of the ČSSD from 2006, and on July 3, 2013, she announced that she would leave the party. Benešová was Minister of Justice in the Jiří Rusnok government in 2013/14 .

On April 30, 2019, President Miloš Zeman reappointed her as Minister of Justice in the Andrej Babiš II government . Benešová is non-party and was nominated by the ANO party . Tens of thousands demonstrated in Prague and other cities against the appointment of Benešová, which had brought about changes in the judicial system.
