Marie Felicité Brosset (born February 5, 1802 in Paris , † September 3, 1880 in Châtellerault , Vienne ) was a French orientalist.

Brosset was particularly known as an authority on Georgian, initially studying theology at the seminaries of Orléans and Paris, then oriental languages ​​and first becoming through the publication and translation of a Chronique géorgienne (Paris 1830), the Mémoires inédits sur la langue et l'histoire géorgiennes (Paris 1833) and a grammar of the Georgian language (Paris 1834).

After Brosset went to Russia , he was made an extraordinary member of the Academy of Sciences in 1847 and a full member of the Academy of Sciences for Georgian and Armenian literature in 1847, and in 1841 he was appointed inspector of the particular schools in Saint Petersburg , and in 1842 he became a librarian at the imperial library and in 1851 curator of the collection of oriental coins in the Hermitage . From 1866 he was a corresponding member of the Prussian Academy of Sciences .
