Marie Felicité Brosset
Marie Felicité Brosset (born February 5, 1802 in Paris , † September 3, 1880 in Châtellerault , Vienne ) was a French orientalist.
Brosset was particularly known as an authority on Georgian, initially studying theology at the seminaries of Orléans and Paris, then oriental languages and first becoming through the publication and translation of a Chronique géorgienne (Paris 1830), the Mémoires inédits sur la langue et l'histoire géorgiennes (Paris 1833) and a grammar of the Georgian language (Paris 1834).
After Brosset went to Russia , he was made an extraordinary member of the Academy of Sciences in 1847 and a full member of the Academy of Sciences for Georgian and Armenian literature in 1847, and in 1841 he was appointed inspector of the particular schools in Saint Petersburg , and in 1842 he became a librarian at the imperial library and in 1851 curator of the collection of oriental coins in the Hermitage . From 1866 he was a corresponding member of the Prussian Academy of Sciences .
