Marie Therese (born March 21, 1927 in Oud-Valkenburg , Valkenburg aan de Geul as Josephina Theresia Linssen ; † April 11, 1994 in Mechernich ) was the Dutch-German founder of the Communion in Christ order .

Life

Marie Therese was influenced by the Christian way of life of her parents Lodewijk Linssen and Maria Elisabeth (née Janssen) even in her childhood. Even as a teenager she wanted to stand up for the needs of other people.

At the age of 19, on August 15, 1946, she consecrated her life to the sanctification of priests and the salvation of mankind in Maastricht in front of the miraculous image of the Mother of God, "Stella Maris".

Followed by constant, ever more severe diseases, they put the age of 24 years before a Provincial of the Carmelites , the vows and took the name Marie Thérèse de Jesus to. She later renewed her vows in a nearby Carmelite convent .

Marie Therese trained as a teacher, which she graduated with distinction and a diploma in 1948. In the period from 1948 to 1964 she founded and directed several state-recognized private schools in Valkenburg and Amsterdam . Due to illness, she was forced to give up this job and in 1965 went to Germany with her mother to see her foster brother, Pastor Wim Robben.

On December 8, 1984, Marie Therese founded the Communion in Christ order and her first monastery in Mechernich , against resistance and prohibitions . When it was founded, she said:

“The sole aim of my foundation is to be on the move as a people of God and, according to the decrees of the Second Vatican Council , to acquire a certain place within the Church in the lived proclamation, in accordance with tradition, doctrine and the Council's resolutions. For me there is no separation from the church, but with this foundation the Spirit gives testimony to its life and work. The loyalty with which I hold on to the Church will be the new perspective for you: love for everyone, live as Jesus lived, realize his kingdom here together as one people of God. May this day expose his and my love so that you too can walk with us, but then always in communion with the Church. "

Marie Therese headed the worldwide active Communio in Christ and the affiliated social institutions until her death on April 11, 1994. The order she founded was not recognized under canonical law for the rest of her life, it only took place on October 13, 2018 by Bishop Helmut Der .
