Mariella Mosler
Mariella Mosler (* 1962 in Oldenburg ) is a German installation artist .
Mosler studied art from 1985 to 1992 at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts under Stanley Brouwn . She also studied philosophy . In 2003 she was appointed to the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart as a university teacher.
The focus of her work is dealing with ornament . Quartz sand , cardboard, coconut fibers , foam, love pearls , fruit gum, tinsel , mirrors, aluminum leaf or bubble wrap are the raw materials for the floor work, ornamental sand reliefs and wall- covering installations by Mariella Mosler. Much of their work is temporary.
The most famous works are Mariella Mosler's floor works made of quartz sand, which were created with precise craftsmanship. The starting point for the complicated floor reliefs is the analysis of the given space. On the basis of what is found, exact geometric designs are created on the paper, which are transferred to the ground and then executed in sand.
Smaller, filigree wall works ( Haarwand, 2001 ) or curtains are made of hair. Hundreds and Thousands is a 12 meter by 6 meter carpet made of love pearls.
Mariella Mosler took part in the documenta X in Kassel in 1997 and had numerous group and solo exhibitions, including in 2002 at the Hamburger Kunsthalle , 2004 Kunsthalle Göppingen , 2012 Kunsthalle Gießen .
