The Kunsthalle Gießen is an exhibition space for contemporary art in the cultural town hall of Gießen in Central Hesse .

Conception

As a place for temporary exhibitions without its own collection, the Kunsthalle Gießen presents current trends and international positions in contemporary art on 400 square meters. She sees it as her task to stimulate the examination of the art of today, to convey it in a variety of ways and to take up social discourses.

history

From the opening in June 2009 to June 2015, Ute Riese was the curator of the Kunsthalle Gießen. From July 2015 to April 2018, the management took over the head of the Giessen cultural office, Simone Maiwald. Various curators were commissioned to organize exhibitions under Maiwald's direction. Since May 2017 the art historian Dr. Nadia Ismail curator of the Kunsthalle, which she has also directed since May 2018.

In 2019 the Kunsthalle celebrated its 10th anniversary with numerous collaborations in order to bundle synergies in culture and to strengthen the interdisciplinary, discursive approach.
