history

After the death of three of his seven children at the diphtheria of the promised Rann Unger citizen Johann Justin bristle in November 1867 to erect a statue of Mary in the open field when his other children and he were spared. When this happened, the Würzburg sculptor Schuler was commissioned to make an almost life-size statue of the Rosary Madonna out of sandstone : The Queen of Heaven, crowned with a star wreath, rises above a base with a Latin inscription, standing on the globe . This free figure was set up in a field on the later district road to Schweinfurt . In 1878 Borst, together with the married couple Georg and Apollonia Erhard, had a chapel built in a neo-Gothic style from hewn sandstone and brickwork , which is located in a small park. The architect of the building was the architect Andreas Lohrey from Schonungen , who built many historicist buildings in Lower Franconia and was related to the Borst family. The Madonna statue was placed in this chapel.

In 1955 the chapel passed from the property of the Borst family to the community. The chapel, which has been a listed building since 1978, was renovated in 1979 and from mid-2002 to May 2003.
