Andreas Lohrey (* 1843 in Schonungen ; † December 9, 1924 in Bad Kissingen ) was a German builder .

Life

Lohrey came from Schonungen ( district of Schweinfurt ). In his day he was a very well-known master builder in the Lower Franconia region . Its largest buildings were the train station of the city of Schweinfurt and the catholic parish church ( Herz-Jesu-Kirche ) in Bad Kissingen (1882). His bust, created by the Kissinger sculptor Valentin Weidner, stands in the entrance hall under the tower .

Since autumn 1882 Lohrey has owned the tourist steamship company Saaleschiffahrt Bad Kissingen on the Franconian Saale between the Kurgarten and the saltworks on the Lower Saline , which he had taken over from the widow of the founder Karl von Paschwitz , who died in 1880 . He bought a new steamboat in 1883 and expanded the operation with a second boat in 1888. He ran this business of the "Dampferle", which still operates on the same stretch of river today, until his death in 1924. After Lohrey's death there were four other applicants for the successor, but the Bad Kissingen city council gave the heirs' representative, the veterinarian Dr. Otmar Fischer from Abensberg , the concession. The company GmbH founded by him, of which he was the managing director, is still owned by the Fischer family and operators of the Saaleschiffahrt GmbH Bad Kissingen, only interrupted between 1944 and 1948 because of the Second World War and its consequences. Steam boats were in use until 1959, which were successively replaced by the diesel boats "Saline" and "Kissingen".

Lohrey died "after a short illness". His obituary shows him as a builder and expressly also as a steamship owner. Lohrey was buried in the Bad Kissingen chapel cemetery.
