history

The former Café Neptun was built in 1891 by the architect Andreas Lohrey . The property is a two-story plastered hipped roof building with dwarf risalits and ornamental gables . It shows the small-scale structure of the Neo-Renaissance .

The former café is located on the steamboat route between the Bad Kissinger Rosengarten and the Lower Saline . The steam shipping company was founded in 1877 by engineer and Reichsbahnbaumeister Carl Friedrich Alfred von Paschwitz and taken over by Lohrey in 1882. The property now built by Lohrey at Salinenstrasse 47 was used to accommodate the ships. On the ground floor there is a steamboat shed for storage and maintenance of the boats. The property also has a slipway that was created at the same time .

Part of the property is a row of shops or a bazaar building that was built at the same time. At that time, more and more bazaars were built on promenade paths such as Salinenstrasse 37 and in the Balthasar-Neumann-Promenade .
