Marija Petrovna Maksakowa-Igenbergs ( Russian Мария Петровна Максакова-Игенбергс , better known by her stage name Marija Maksakowa ; born July 24, 1977 in Munich ) is a German- Russian opera singer and former politician of the United Russia party .

Life

Her parents are the actress Lyudmila Maksakowa and the Prague-born German entrepreneur Peter Igenbergs, her grandmother the Russian opera singer Marija Petrovna Maksakowa (Sr.). She spent her childhood near Moscow in the town of Snegiri . She worked as an opera singer in Moscow and at the St. Petersburg Mariinsky Theater and appeared in various cultural programs on Russian television. Maksakowa-Igenbergs was a member of the Russian Duma from 2011 to 2016 .

Since 2015 Maksakowa-Igenbergs was married to the politician Denis Voronenkow from the KPRF , with whom she has a child. In 2016 Maksakowa-Igenbergs emigrated to Ukraine with her husband . Voronenkov gave the reason that he was being followed by the Russian secret service FSB . Voronenkov was shot dead by an unknown assailant on March 23, 2017 while leaving the Premier Palace Hotel in central Kiev.

The United Russia party opened a party expulsion procedure against Maksakowa-Igenbergs in February 2017. The official reason was that according to the statutes, party members were not allowed to have any other citizenship besides Russian. In an interview on February 15, 2017, Maksakowa-Igenbergs stated that he was also a German citizen. The party accuses her of hiding this beforehand. In Ukraine, she called the annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation illegal. During the vote on Crimea in the Russian Duma, she was abroad.
