Marija Vladimirovna Borissenko ( Russian Мария Владимировна Бородакова , English transcription: Maria Vladimirovna Borisenko ; born March 8, 1986 in Gorki as Marija Vladimirovna Borodakowa) is a Russian volleyball player . She became world champion twice and took part in the 2012 Olympics.

Career

Borissenko started her career in 2001 at Stinol Lipetsk . From 2002 to 2004 she was part of the Russian national junior team and took part in various youth tournaments. In 2004 she moved to VK Dynamo Moscow . In her first season in Moscow she was the Russian runner-up. In addition, the middle blocker made her debut in 2005 in the senior national team , with which she took third place at the European Championships . In 2006 she became Russian champion and stood with Dynamo in the final of the Top Teams Cup against Asystel Volley Novara . With Russia, she reached second place in the Grand Prix . She then became world champion for the first time in Japan with a win against Brazil . After defending the title in the league, she reached the 2007 Champions League final against Foppapedretti Bergamo . At the EM 2007 she was third again with Russia.

In 2008 it was only enough for second place in the Russian championship before Borissenko won the title again with Moscow in 2009 and also made it to the Champions League final for the second time , which was lost again to Bergamo.
