Marijan Kovačević (born August 31, 1973 in Hamburg ) is a former Croatian soccer player and today's soccer coach who also has German citizenship .

Kovačević began his professional career in 1993 at Hamburger SV , where he had previously played in youth. In 1997 he moved to VfL Wolfsburg and two years later he was transferred to MSV Duisburg . After Kovačević left the MSV at the end of 2001, he did not stay at any of his following stations for more than a year until he moved to the second team of VfB Stuttgart in July 2005 . Kovačević qualified with VfB II in the 2007/08 season as captain for the new 3rd professional league .

On October 4, 2008, Kovačević came in the 4-1 home win against Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga for his first and only competitive appearance for the first team of VfB Stuttgart, eight years after his last Bundesliga game for MSV Duisburg.

After the 2008/09 season, Kovačević ended his active career. For the 2009/10 season he was coach of the U-15 at VfB Stuttgart. Kovačević has been the A-Juniors coach of the Stuttgarter Kickers since summer 2018 .
