Marin Barišić (born March 24, 1947 in Vidonje near Metković , Yugoslavia ) is Archbishop of Split-Makarska .

Life

Marin Barišić attended secondary schools in Dubrovnik and Split . He received his diploma in the field of Catholic theology after successfully completing his studies in Split and Rome . He continued his studies in Rome at the Pontifical Gregorian University in the field of biblical exegesis and completed this with a dissertation . He was ordained a priest on July 14, 1974 in Vidonje. From 1978 to 1979 he was Prefect of the Archbishop's Seminary in Split. From 1979 to 1993 he worked as a parish priest in the parish of Špinut , a district of Split. In addition to pastoral care, he was also professor of theology at the theological faculty of Split in 1981 and taught in the field of Bible exegesis of the Old Testament .

August 3, 1993 appointed him Pope John Paul II. To the titular of Feradi Maius and ordered him to auxiliary bishop in the archdiocese of Split-Makarska. The episcopal ordination received his Archbishop Ante Juric on 17 October of that year. On June 21, 2000, John Paul II made him Archbishop of Split-Makarska. The official inauguration took place on August 26, 2000.

Archbishop Marin Barišić is deputy chairman of the Croatian Bishops' Conference . He is also President of the Council for Religious Education in Croatia and President of the Commission for Dialogue with the Serbian Orthodox Church in Croatia and Serbia .
