Marina Cecilie Roné (born March 4, 1967 in Copenhagen , Denmark ) is a Danish writer and journalist .

Life

Marina Cecilie Roné grew up as the daughter of a photographer in the Danish capital Copenhagen. After graduating from school, she moved to Paris, where she originally wanted to study Romance languages at the Sorbonne . Instead, she completed an acting degree, which she successfully completed in 1990 at the Cours Florent . Back in Denmark she decided against a career as an actress and began working as a critic for the Danish daily Politiken from 1991 . In 1994 she moved to Dagbladet Information as an editor , where she stayed until 1996 and finally moved to Jyllands-Posten until 1999 .

In 1990 she made her debut as a writer with the short story collection Ud af et skød . Her debut novel was published in 1993 under the title Skrifte til min elskede . With NIMBY Not in my backyard , she published her most successful novel to date in 2007. After her husband had died of a brain tumor after ten years of marriage the previous year , she wrote a story inspired by her own experiences about a young woman and life with her three children after she lost her husband to lung cancer . The Danish daily Berlingske described the story as a “beautiful, strong and subdued portrait of a family” and a year later Roné received a 50,000 Danish crown nomination for the Danske Bank Literature Prize .
