The Cours Florent is a private drama school founded in 1965 by the actor François Florent in Paris . The Théâtre du Marais has been affiliated with it since 2002 .

history

In 1967, the actor and educator François Florent founded the Cours Florent drama school in Paris. His main ambition was to develop an innovative theater pedagogy that would make each individual student the center of education and stimulate their individual skills and develop them in practice. In 1978 François Florent started the “Classe libre”. Every year, as part of an international “Concours”, 20 participants are selected (from around 1700 candidates per season), to whom the Cours Florent provides a 2-year special training course free of charge. The school is currently run by Frédéric Montfort.

Cours Florent trains professional actors for the stage, film, television and radio drama. The Paris Cours Florent offer theater training in French, English and German, a specific film branch after the first year of basic training, a musical, a music and a directing branch. The spectrum also includes classes for children from the age of seven, teenagers from the age of eleven and a course to prepare for the entrance examination for the Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique .

Since 2013, Cours Florent has been part of the “Galileo” network, which offers students new opportunities on an international level and access to other artistic and economic fields of study as an extension of acting studies in the narrower sense.

Locations

Cours Florent is permanently represented in Paris, Brussels, Montpellier and Bordeaux and regularly offers workshops in various French cities (Lyon, Bordeaux, Lille, Strasbourg, Rennes etc.) and in London. For autumn 2019, it is planned to open a bachelor's degree in Berlin in cooperation with Macromedia University .
