Marine Regatta Club
The Marine-Regatta-Verein officially Marine-Regatta-Verein in the Deutscher Marinebund e. V. is the sailing club in the German Navy Federation. Its history is closely linked to the Kiel Yacht Club .
history
In 1887 the Navy Regatta Association was founded by officers and officials of the Navy . The sailing enthusiast Prince Heinrich became the club's “protector”. From 1891 it was also possible for non-naval members to become a member and the club was renamed the Imperial Yacht Club by Kaiser Wilhelm II , himself the “ Commodore ” of the club . It was later renamed to what is now the Kiel Yacht Club .
Due to the imperial tradition of the association, all members of the Navy had to leave the Imperial Yacht Club in 1928. For this purpose, the Marine Regatta Association was re-established. He was part of the Reichsmarine and later the Kriegsmarine . When the Kriegsmarine was dissolved in 1945, the Marine Regatta Association was also dissolved.
