Marinus Bee

Marinus Bee (* circa 1971 in Moengo , Suriname ) is a Surinamese sports official, politician and chairman of the National Assembly of Suriname (DNA) since 2020 .

Live and act

Bee was born in the family as the eldest of four children in Moengo, but grew up in Paramaribo , in the Abrabroki district. According to his own statement, he received a strict upbringing from his parents, which, in retrospect, made him an independent and successful person.

He completed a bachelor's degree in law at the Anton de Kom University in Paramaribo . Bee also holds a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree.

Sports

Marinus Bee was, among other things, chairman of the Albina Sports Association for ten years and has been chairman of the SV Papadam football club from Albina since 2014 .

politics

Bee has been a member of the Algemene Bevrijdings- en Ontwikkelingspartij (ABOP) since 1998 . He ran for the ABOP in the parliamentary elections in 2000, but was unsuccessful. It was not until the elections on May 25, 2010 that Marinus Bee became a member of the National Assembly for the ABOP.

After he was first coordinator for the party in the Marowijne district , he became chairman of the ABOP Congress Bureau in 2014.

After the elections on May 25, 2015 and May 25, 2020 , he was re-elected for the ABOP.

After Ronnie Brunswijk was chairman of the DNA parliament from June 29, 2020 until his election as Vice-President of Suriname on July 13, 2020, Marinus Bee was elected and sworn in unopposed on July 14, 2020 by acclamation to succeed Brunswijk as chairman of the parliament.
