Mario Šoštarič (born November 25, 1992 in Slovenj Gradec ) is a Slovenian handball player .

The 1.93 m tall and 87 kg heavy left-hander is mostly used on the right wing . Mario Šoštarič started his professional career in 2009 at RK Gorenje Velenje . With Velenje he reached the round of 16 in the EHF Cup 2009/10 and the quarter finals in the EHF Champions League 2010/11. He then played for two years with RK Branik Maribor, with whom he advanced to the quarter-finals in the EHF Challenge Cup 2011/12 and the EHF Cup 2012/13. From 2013 he ran again for Velenje. In the EHF Champions League 2013/14 he qualified again for the round of 16. He has been under contract with the Hungarian first division club Pick Szeged since the 2016/17 season . With Szeged he won the Hungarian Championship in 2018 and the Hungarian Cup in 2019.

Mario Šoštarič went through all of Slovenia's junior selections and was always one of the top scorers. At the U-18 European Championship in 2010, he scored 35 times. At the U-19 World Cup in 2011, he was the fifth best tournament scorer with 53 goals and was elected to the All-Star team. At the U-20 European Championship in 2012 he scored 44 goals and won the bronze medal, in addition he was re-elected to the All-Star team. At the U-21 World Cup in 2013, he scored 45 times and finished ninth.

For the Slovenian national team , he has played 36 international matches so far , in which he scored 69 goals. (As of January 12, 2020)
