Life

Mario Dilitz's father awakened his son's interest in working with wood at an early age. After a short career as a freestyle skier, which he broke off early after a serious accident due to injury, he completed an apprenticeship as a wood sculptor at the technical school for wood sculptors Ortisei in Italy and has been working as a freelance artist since 2004.

Dilitz's works have been exhibited at art fairs such as the Artfair in Cologne , the Masterpiece London VOLTA 14 in Basel, the London Artfair or the SWAB Barcelona . He lives and works in Munich and Axams (Tyrol).

General information about the work

Dilitz 'figurative sculptures made of red-glued limewood or bronze mostly depict detailed, realistic-looking human bodies. The introspective, expressive faces and often lightly clad bodies process Dilitz's impressions and emotions and are intended to awaken moods in the viewer; they are not a mere reflection of reality. Existential, human themes such as protection and defense, power and powerlessness are omnipresent themes in Dilitz's contemporary work.
