Mario Erdheim

Mario Erdheim (born December 25, 1940 in Quito ) is a Swiss ethnologist and psychoanalyst .

Life

Erdheim studied ethnology , history and psychology in Vienna , Basel and Madrid . He trained as a psychoanalyst in Zurich and worked there as a high school history teacher . Then he switched to teaching psychology with a focus on ethnopsychoanalysis and ethnopsychiatry at the University of Zurich . Erdheim held visiting professorships at the universities of Frankfurt am Main , Salzburg , Vienna and Darmstadt and completed his habilitation in Frankfurt am Main before returning to Zurich. The psychoanalyst has been running a practice there since 1975 .
