Act

Mario Musolesi was in the Italian resistance without belonging to a political party. The nickname "Lupo" (Italian for wolf ), which he got from friends from his childhood, was supposed to indicate his strong character and courage - partly also in the party political struggle.

He was one of the leading forces in the organization " Stella Rossa " (Italian for Red Star based on the model of the Yugoslav partisans under Josip Broz Tito ), which in the Emilia-Romagna region , more precisely on the Linea Gotica near Marzabotto, against the German occupation have fought. The Marzabotto massacre became known in the period from September 29th to October 1st, 1944. "Lupo" died on the very first day. He is still considered a hero in the region today, as indicated by a memorial stone.
