Mario Pestano

Mario Pestano García (born April 8, 1978 in Santa Cruz de Tenerife ) is a Spanish athlete who specializes in discus throwing.

Pestano was the Spanish discus thrower eleven times in a row from 2001 to 2011. He also holds the Spanish record (69.50 m) and the Spanish junior record (61.73 m) in this discipline. His greatest international successes include his victories at the World Athletics Finals in Monaco in 2004 and the Mediterranean Games in Almería in 2005, as well as two fourth places at the European Athletics Championships in Munich in 2002 and in Gothenburg in 2006 .

Between 1999 and 2011 Pestano took part in six world championships. He reached the final four times with eighth place in 2003 in Paris as the best place. He also finished ninth at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Pestano is 1.95 m tall and weighs 120 kg. He starts for the CA Tenerife CajaCanarias and is coached by Luis Lizaso.
