Mario Streit (born April 14, 1967 in Rathenow ) is a former rower from the German Democratic Republic . In 1988 he won the Olympic silver medal in two with a helmsman .

Mario Streit started for SG Dynamo Potsdam and trained with Bernd Landvoigt . In 1984 and 1985, Streit won the four-man title at the Junior World Championships . In 1986 he won the GDR championship title in eighth place ; at the 1986 World Cup, dispute with the GDR eighth came in fifth. In 1987, together with Detlef Kirchhoff and helmsman René Rensch, he formed a two-man with helmsman who took fourth place at the World Championships in Copenhagen. This two-man also started at the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988 and won the silver medal there behind the Italian two-man with Carmine and Giuseppe Abbagnale and Giuseppe Di Capua . In 1989 Kirchhoff and Streit won together with helmsman Denny Kiese at the GDR championship in two and took fourth place at the world championship.

For winning the silver medal in Seoul, Mario Streit was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in silver.
