For the 2014/15 season he moved to the Herner TC and coached the girls of the HTC in the female youth basketball league (WNBL). At the beginning of May 2015, HTC won the championship title in the WNBL under Zurkowski's leadership. In the 2015/16 season he was WNBL trainer and trainer of the HTC II in the women's regional league in Herne.

In mid-April 2016, women's second division team Osnabrücker SC Zurkowski announced that they would be head coach. In the 2018/19 season he led the Lower Saxons to the championship in the 2nd Bundesliga North and thus to promotion to the highest German division, the DBBL . He also moved into the final of the DBBL Cup with Osnabrück as a second division team, but lost to Herne there in March 2019. He was then named Trainer of the Year 2019 in the city of Osnabrück . In February 2020 Zurkowski announced that he would be leaving Osnabrück at the end of the 2019/20 season to take on a new task. In the 2019/20 season, which was canceled in mid-March due to the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, Osnabrück reached seventh place in the final table of the Bundesliga as a climber under Zurkowski's leadership.

At the beginning of July 2020 he was introduced as the new head coach of the women's second division team Rheinland Lions (previously SG Bergische Löwen) from Bergisch Gladbach .
