Mario de Leon Baltazar

Mario de Leon Baltazar OP (born September 1, 1926 in Bayombong , Nueva Vizcaya , Philippines , † July 9, 2012 in Manila ) was a Roman Catholic clergyman and prelate of the territorial prelature of Batanes and Babuyan Islands .

Life

Mario de Leon Baltazar joined the religious order of the Dominicans in and put on 14 September 1944 professed from. He received after his theological and philosophical education on March 8, 1952 in the orden own Rosaryhill School in Hong Kong , the ordination . For many years he worked as a priest in pastoral care.

Pope Paul VI appointed him on November 18, 1966 as prelate of the territorial prelature of Batanes and Babuyan Islands, the inauguration took place on January 7, 1967. In 1995 Pope John Paul II accepted his resignation because of health reasons.

He died of a heart attack in the hospital of the Pontifical and Royal University of St. Thomas Aquinas in Manila (UST) .

Mario de Leon Baltazar holds a Licentiate in Bible Studies (Licentiate in Sacred Scripture SSL) and Sacraments (Licentiate of Sacred Theology LST). He published the three-volume work "Treasures Old and New" with a collection of homilies ; the work won the Catholic Authors Award 2002 and the ECBA Award 2004 .
