Maripa nicaraguensis is a plant type from the genus Maripa from the family of wind plants (Convolvulaceae). The species is common in America .

description

Maripa nicaraguensis is a liana with smooth to slightly angled, gray-brown to brown stems . The leaf blades are membranous to almost membranous, balding, elliptical to lanceolate, 9 to 15 (rarely up to 25) cm long, the base is blunt to rounded, towards the front they are pointed to briefly pointed.

The inflorescences are terminal, paniculate - thyrsenic , the branches are covered with reddish, shield-shaped, glandular trichomes . The bracts are triangular to triangular-ovate, up to 2 mm long and mostly persistent on the flower , but sloping on the fruit. The flower stalks have a length of 4 to 8 (rarely up to 12) mm. The sepals are ovate to broadly ovate, 7 to 8 mm long, leathery to membranous and ciliate. The outer sepals are covered with reddish, glandular trichomes at the base, the inner ones are hairless or hairy on the outside with adjacent trichomes. The crown is 30 to 45 mm long, purple to pink, the corolla tube is almost white at the base.

The fruit is elliptical, broadly elliptical or almost spherical and measures 20 to 30 mm in diameter. The surface is smooth to reticulate, yellow and later brown to dark brown. The seeds are egg-shaped, 20 to 22 mm long, 11 to 13 mm thick.

distribution

The species is distributed in Belize , Guatemala , Nicaragua , Costa Rica , Panama , Colombia and Ecuador and is also found in southeastern Mexico.
