Marit Wagler

Marit Wagler (born January 7, 1983 in Annaberg-Buchholz ) is a German politician ( Die Linke ). She has been a member of the Thuringian State Parliament ( MdL ) since January 1, 2019 .

Live and act

Marit Wagler studied biology at the Technical University of Dresden and the University of Leipzig from 2002 to 2008 and then worked as a research assistant at the University of Stuttgart , before continuing her education in environmental technology and recycling between 2010 and 2011 through postgraduate studies at the Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences . In 2012 Wagler began her doctoral studies at the Department of Ecophysiology and Aquaculture at the Leibniz Institute for Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries . Between 2017 and 2019 she worked as a research assistant for regional development, agriculture and forestry in the parliamentary group Die Linke in the Thuringian state parliament.

In the state elections in Thuringia in 2014 , she ran as a direct candidate for the Left in the Eichsfeld I constituency . It achieved 2,725 of the 21,872 valid constituency votes (12.5%) and was therefore unable to prevail against the direct candidate of the CDU, the former Minister for Building, Regional Development and Media Gerold Wucherpfennig . On January 1, 2019, she succeeded Mike Huster in the Thuringian State Parliament, who was elected Vice-President of the Thuringian State Audit Office with effect from January 1, 2019 and resigned his mandate on December 31, 2018. In the parliamentary group Die Linke, she is the spokesperson for regional development and regional planning and has been a member of the petitions committee and deputy member of the committee for infrastructure, agriculture and forestry since February 2019.

On March 18, 2019, Marit Wagler was elected by the Eichsfeld district association as a direct candidate in the Eichsfeld I district for the state election on October 27, 2019.
