Marius Constantin Măldărăşanu (born April 19, 1975 in Ploieşti ) is a former Romanian football player . He played a total of 328 games in the Romanian League 1 and the Turkish Süper Lig . In 1999 he won the Romanian championship with Rapid Bucharest and the Turkish championship in 2003 with Beşiktaş Istanbul .

Career

The career of Măldărăşanu began in 1996 when he moved to the first team of Petrolul Ploieşti , who played in the Divizia Națională at the time . If he was used in half of the games in the 1996/97 season , he established himself as a regular in the 1997/98 season . In the summer of 1998 he moved to league rivals Rapid Bucharest , where he won his first title with the 1999 championship . During the almost ten years that he played for Rapid, the club was consistently at the top of the national league. With the cup wins in 2002 , 2006 and 2007 he was able to win three more titles with his team. During this time he played in the second half of the 2002/03 season for Beşiktaş Istanbul , where he was able to win the Turkish championship . There were only three missions. The biggest success in the European Cup Măldărăşanu could celebrate with Rapid, when the club moved into the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup in the 2005/06 season, where they were defeated by local rivals Steaua .

In early 2008 Măldărăşanu left Rapid and joined second division FC Braşov , with whom he rose to League 1 at the end of the season . In 2010 he ended his active career.

National team

Măldărăşanu played a total of eight games for the Romanian national team . He made his debut on February 2, 2000 in a tournament in Cyprus against Latvia . He was also used in the other two tournament games. In May 2000 he was part of the provisional squad of national coach Emerich Jenei for the European Championships in Belgium and the Netherlands , but was ultimately not nominated. After two other short appearances in friendly matches in August 2000 and February 2001, Măldărăşanu was not considered for almost four years. On November 17, 2004, he returned to the national team in the World Cup qualifier against Armenia . Then it took another two years before Măldărăşanu was last called on November 15, 2006 in a friendly against Spain .
