Marjory Gordon

Marjory Gordon (born November 10, 1931 - April 29, 2015 in Boston ) was an American nursing scientist and professor at Boston College in Massachusetts .

life and career

Marjory Gordon was one of the founders of nursing diagnostics and the first President of NANDA International, as well as chairing the DDC's Diagnosis Development Committee. She conducted a variety of studies on nursing diagnoses and clinical decision making. She was internationally sought-after as a guest speaker on nursing diagnoses, nursing assessment and classifications.

Marjory Gordon developed the Functional Health Patterns (FHP) nursing assessment system , which helps nurses make accurate nursing diagnoses . Thanks to its scientific foundation and practical relevance, the FHP assessment was translated into more than ten languages ​​and used worldwide together with nursing diagnoses from NANDA International.

Gordon was honored with the Living Legend Award in 2009 by the American Academy of Nursing for Lifetime Achievement . She became known in German-speaking countries through books, workshops and interviews.
