Leo Spielberger (born October 6, 1961 in Bann ) is a former German soccer player and coach .

Career

From 1978, as an A-youth, Leo Spielberger played at 1. FC Kaiserslautern . After that he was a few years in the Lautrer amateurs squad, Spielberger's professional career began in 1985. He made his debut in the Bundesliga on the 19th matchday of the 1985/86 season at 1-1 in Cologne . In his total of two seasons in the professional squad of the FCK, however, he was never able to fully assert himself and was transferred to the second division Arminia Bielefeld shortly after the start of the 1987/88 season, after no longer planning with him. The man from Palatinate held a regular place there from the start, but his professional career was abruptly ended after the 21st match day due to a serious inner ligament injury.

In 1988 he moved to the upper division SV Edenkoben , with whom he promptly became champions in 1988/89 . Edenkoben failed in the promotion games to the 2nd Bundesliga . In 1992 he went to Südwest Ludwigshafen , also playing in the Oberliga Südwest , where he was active until 1995. Then he let his career end with his hometown club SV Bann.

In April 1999 Leo Spielberger started his first coaching position at Südwest Ludwigshafen . From the beginning of the 2006/07 season he worked as a coach for the upper division TuS Hohenecken . In November 2006, he resigned after the team had taken only 9 points from 14 games.

Leo Spielberger is on the board of the traditional FCK team and is active for the old men of SV Bann.
