Mark Anthony Jones (born November 7, 1979 in Builth Wells ) is a former Welsh rugby union player who was used on the position of the outer three quarters . He was active for the Welsh national rugby union team and the Scarlets .
Career
Jones played in all youth national teams and was one of the best outside three-quarters in the country as a teenager. He made his debut for the senior team in 2001 against England at the Six Nations . He soon became a regular player and was also part of the squad for the 2003 World Cup . His appearance against England in the quarterfinals was his last for Wales for almost three years, as numerous injuries threw him back again and again.
Jones returned to the Six Nations in 2006 , again against England. Since then, he has been largely spared injuries and has therefore been a regular for the national team. He also took part in the 2007 World Cup, where Wales were eliminated in the preliminary round. He celebrated his greatest success at the Six Nations 2008 , when the national team won the Grand Slam .
In August 2010, Jones announced his resignation due to injury.
