Mark Allen Mitchell (born April 6, 1961 in Minneapolis , Minnesota ) is a retired American speed skater .

Mitchell competed in international speed skating between 1980 and 1987. In 1980 he entered the Junior World Championships in Assen, the Netherlands , and reached 20th place in the small four-way battle . Between 1983 and 1987 Mitchell participated in five all around world championships . His best result was 14th place in 1984 in Gothenburg . In the same year he qualified for the Winter Olympics in Sarajevo . In the competition over 1500 meters, he finished 33rd, over 5000 meters and 10,000 meters, Mitchell was 21st. During his sporting career, he once achieved a result among the top ten at a World Cup over 1500 meters in February 1986 in Innsbruck .

Mitchell graduated from St. John's University in 1997 and then attended Hamline University , where he completed his law degree in 2000. He worked as a lawyer and public defender in Minneapolis.
