Mark Tushnet
Mark Victor Tushnet (born November 18, 1945 ) is an American lawyer , university professor and civil rights activist .
Life
Tushnet studied at Harvard Law School until 1967 and at Yale Law School until 1971 . Mark Tushnet is a faculty member at the University of Wisconsin – Madison and has lectured at the Georgetown University Law Center for many years . He was a research fellow with Thurgood Marshall , the first African American Supreme Court Justice, and is William Nelson Cromwell Professor of Law at Harvard Law School.
He is currently working on the criminalization of lies and the excesses of free speech in the United States.
In 2002 he was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences .
Private life
Tushnet is married to Elizabeth Alexander , who heads the National Prison Project of the American Civil Liberties Union . Daughter Rebecca is a law professor at Georgetown University Law Center, daughter Eve is a conservative writer and journalist.
