The Markt 33 building is a residential and commercial building in Bonn that was built in 1896. It is located on the market square in the center of Bonn . The house stands as a monument under monument protection .

history

The building was built for the gold goods manufacturer and court jeweler Johann Dix in place of the previous building, which was demolished in the same year. In 1908 the shop window system was rebuilt and a cement plank wall was installed. Further renovations took place in 1915. In 1919, the previous rear storage rooms were made habitable. In 1927 the house was rebuilt for Adolf Marmorstein, the owner of the Hermanns & Froitzheim men's underwear business (headquarters in Frankfurt am Main ), which was subsequently operated there . In 1956 there was a change in the shop window on the first floor for the health and diet store , which was located there at the time , for which a courtyard roof was also carried out in 1961. In 1973, the shop area was rebuilt for a photo shop, followed by another conversion of the house, which was commissioned by the company. The building was entered in the city of Bonn's list of monuments on August 21, 1989.

architecture

The residential and commercial building is a four-storey building in three axes , which has a plastered facade with stucco ornamentation and a three-storey central bay window with a polygonal roof bay window. The facade has been changed in the area of the ground floor and is therefore not a listed building here; the windows on the floors above are from the 1960s (status: 1989). In the entrance area, where there is partly a stone floor on the first floor (status: 1989), the stairwell up to the first floor has been renewed in a different form, as have the apartment doors, and there is no stucco here. While the interior of the ground floor was completely changed by the installation of the shop, the furnishings on the upper floors have been changed, but the original floor plan has either been preserved or is still legible. On the first floor, the floor plan has been partially changed on the street side, the floors are covered and the doors have been largely renewed (status: 1989). The second floor shows a rose window in the stairwell and the remains of a frieze , the stucco ceiling in the back room of the front building is completely preserved. The doors on the third floor have been renewed, while the floors and the back of the kitchen have received a central rose window and a frieze. The door frames have been preserved in the converted attic , but the door leaves have been replaced. The rear building has been completely renovated with new windows and doors as well as a covered floor (status: 1989).
