Building description and history
The Proßmarker village church was built in the 14th century. It is a hall building made of field stone with a straight east end, which was provided with a gable roof. The aisle-wide tower in the west was added later. In the south of the nave there is a porch that was built in the 18th century.
The interior of the church is characterized by a wooden beam ceiling and a horseshoe gallery. The pulpit altar that is present here comes with an inscription from the year 1777. The eight-sided baptism comes from the year 1786. A prayer chair also present here is also dated to the 18th century. There are also seven wooden sculptures that were created around 1510 and originally come from a late Gothic altar shrine. These are Mary with the child and six other figures of saints that are a little smaller. The church's furnishings also include a wooden crucifix (1681) and a baptismal angel (18th century). A bronze bell in the church was created in 1495 by the bell founder Matthias Halbritter.
The organ in the church was probably built around 1819/20. The instrument has a pneumatic slide drawer , a manual and six registers .
The Proßmarker village church is located in the parish of Bad Liebenwerda and belongs to the Schlieben parish , which, in addition to Proßmarke, includes the churches in Krassig , Oelsig , Hohenbucko , Hillmersdorf and Stechau . Other attractions of the place include a house in Hohenbuckoer Straße 4 , the Hohenbuckoer village church with the rectory and, as other architectural monuments in Hohenbucko, the Lochmühle , a former large farm in Dorfstraße 44 and a post-mile pillar as well as the chief forestry department .
