Building description and history

The upper part of the column with post horn and inscription (2013)

The Hohenbuckoer post mileage pillar is a post mileage pillar in Saxony . A clearly visible element of the column in the form of a sandstone obelisk is the gold-plated post horn in the upper part. In addition, the inscriptions "Schlieben 2 hours" and "Luckau 4 hours" can be found in the column.

The location of the all-mile pillar is now directly on the federal road 87 (B 87) at the south-western entrance to the town. The building was erected around 1730. At that time, the Heerstrasse and the Saxon Poststrasse ran from Leipzig to Frankfurt (Oder) through Hohenbucko, where there was a post office.

Other places of interest in the village include the Hohenbucko village church , the rectory , the Lochmühle , a former large farm in Dorfstraße 44 and the head forester's office . Further sights can be found in the Proßmarke district with the local village church and a listed residential building .
