history

The Hohenbuckoer Lochmühle is a historic mill location that was first mentioned in documents as early as the end of the Middle Ages. It was originally one of three water mills located in the headwaters in the Rochauer Heide and the Lebuser Vorwerk . More mills were added later in the Lochmühle area, which made the location of considerable regional importance. Around 1540 there is a windmill here next to the water mill. In 1583 a fulling mill and grinding mill and a windmill were mentioned in a document. In the meantime, however, a second windmill appears. Around 1776 the watermill had one grinder and five millet pounders. At that time, a Johann Christian Winkel called the property his own. In 1814 the property went to Johann Traugott Geneiß. In 1819 it was owned by a Wehling family.

In 1895 it was finally switched to steam operation and, from 1925, electricity was also generated. At this time, two windmills located on or near the site were also demolished. The mill was finally shut down from the middle of the 20th century (oil mill 1947, grinding and cutting mill 1951), although the sawmill with its saw frame dating from 1921 was still used sporadically in later times. It was finally shut down in 1985.

Building description

The entire ensemble, which is listed as a historical monument, today consists of the residential building, the mill building, the stable barn and the entrance barn of the original mill farmhouse. In addition, parts of the old mill ditch are also under monument protection. The construction of the house and watermill is dated from 1851 to 1875. The building is a half-timbered building with brick infill, which has a field stone base and was provided with a gable roof.

The sawmill on the property was built in 1817. This timbered timber-framed building was also provided with a gable roof. The two entrance barns were each built as a half-timbered building with adobe infills. The stable barn is dated to the first half of the 19th century and the barn to the second half of the 19th century. Both buildings have a gable roof.

Other sights in addition to the rectory in the village include the Hohenbuckoer Dorfkirche , the rectory , the Hohenbuckoer Oberförsterei , a former large farm in Dorfstraße 44 and a post mile column . Further sights can be found in the Proßmarke district with the local village church and a listed residential building .
