About this picture

Lebusa ( Lower Sorbian Lubusz ) is in the north of the district Elbe-Elster situated community in Brandenburg . It belongs to the office of Schlieben based in the city of Schlieben .

geography

Lebusa and its districts are located in the southern foothills of the Lower Fläming , which significantly shape the landscape.

Community structure

The districts of the municipality are Freileben , Körba and Lebusa. Then there are the Striesa , Vorwerk and Weidmannsruh residential areas .

history

The place was first mentioned in 1346 in the Meissen diocese register as Lebbusse .

Historians have long suspected that Liubusua Castle , which Thietmar von Merseburg mentions in his chronicle, was identical to Lebusa. However, modern archeology has so far not been able to find any proof of the identity of Liubusua, the headquarters of the Slavic tribe of the Lusici, and Lebusa. The thesis that Liubusua was located near Löbsal near Meißen could, however, be supported by archaeological finds and is currently valid doctrine.

Lebusa has belonged to the Prussian district of Schweinitz in the province of Saxony (after 1945, the state of Saxony-Anhalt ) since 1816 , from 1950 to the district of Herzberg (state of Saxony-Anhalt, since 1952 the GDR district of Cottbus ). The municipality has been part of the Elbe-Elster district since 1993.

Between Lebusa and Dahme , the “ VEB Kraftverkehr Leipzig ” set up and maintained a children's holiday camp during the GDR era , which was abandoned to decay after 1990.

Incorporations

On December 15, 2001, the previously independent communities of Freileben and Körba were incorporated.
