Markus Günthardt

Markus Günthardt (born September 10, 1957 in Zurich ) is a former Swiss tennis player and director of various tennis tournaments.

The Swiss was himself a professional tennis player on the ATP Tour from 1978 to 1985 . During this time he also played for his home country in the Davis Cup , in 1984 and 1985 as playing captain. He was considered a double specialist and made it to 40th place in the double world rankings . Even after the end of his career, the brother of ex-tennis professional Heinz Günthardt , who lives with his wife and two children in Madrid and Switzerland, remained loyal to tennis: for the Swiss sports marketing company Marc Biver Development (MBD), the was later taken over by the industry giant IMG , he built up the tennis division and signed the German Davis Cup players Michael Stich and Carl-Uwe Steeb .

From the end of 1990 he was tournament director of various tennis tournaments for the Ion Endeiriac Group, including the Eurocard Open in Stuttgart, the Tennis Masters in Stuttgart and Madrid and the ATP Tour World Championships from 1996 to 1999 in Hanover. In 2003, he set up the sports marketing agency Vision Sports & Events in Spain, with which he worked, among other things, on Madrid's Olympic bid for the 2012 Games and as a consultant for the organizers of the 2004 European Swimming Championships in the Spanish capital.

Since 2005 he has been tournament director of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart and as such has overall responsibility for the marketing and organization of the traditional tournament in the Porsche Arena .
