Wolf-Dieter Hauschild (theologian)

Wolf-Dieter Hauschild (born August 7, 1941 in Lübeck ; † March 17, 2010 ) was a German Protestant theologian, his specialty was church history with a focus on the old church .

Life

Wolf-Dieter Hauschild was the son of the pastor at Lübeck Cathedral Arno Hauschild (died in 1943). He attended the Katharineum in Lübeck until he graduated from high school in 1961 and then studied Protestant theology at the Universities of Göttingen , Tübingen and Hamburg . In 1967 he was given a dissertation on the subject of the Pneumatomachen , supervised by Georg Kretschmar . A study of the dogma history of the 4th century on Dr. theol. PhD. In 1968 he was ordained as pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lübeck . He presented his habilitation thesis God's Spirit and Man on early Christian pneumatology in 1971 in Munich.

Hauschild was a private lecturer in Munich until 1974, from 1974 to 1977 senior church councilor in the EKD church office in Hanover, from 1977 to 1982 professor in Munich and then from 1982 to 1984 in Osnabrück . In 1984 he was appointed professor at the Evangelical Theological Faculty of the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster .

After his retirement , he was still in charge of the “ Gregor von Nyssa Research Center ” and the “ Patristic Office of Münster”. In 1997, Hauschild was elected a full member of the humanities class of the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences and Arts .

In addition to his patristic studies and studies on contemporary church history, he was intensively involved in researching the church history of his home town Lübeck .
