Markus Haas (* 31 March 1972 in Munich ) is a German manager and, since January 2017 CEO of Telefónica Germany and member of the Executive Committee of Telefónica

Life

Markus Haas studied law at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . After taking his second state examination, he took part in the Executive Development Program at the University of Oxford . He spent another year at the Oxford Leadership Academy.

In 1998 he started, now a fully qualified lawyer, as a consultant for law and regulation at Viag Interkom (later Telefónica); later as Executive Assistant to the CFO . Subsequently, as Vice President, he was responsible for Corporate and Legal Affairs with commercial responsibility for the roaming and wholesale network operator business.

In 2009 he became a member of the management. He has been a member of the Management Board of Telefónica Deutschland Holding since 2012. In his area of ​​responsibility, he worked on the takeover of HanseNet , the acquisition of E-Plus and the IPO of Telefónica Deutschland. With the Deutsche Telekom AG , Versatel GmbH and with the Drillisch AG partnerships were closed. From 2014, he headed the company's core operational business as Chief Operating Officer .

On January 1, 2017, he took over the chairmanship of the board from his predecessor Thorsten Dirks .

Haas is a member of the Bitkom Presidium. He lives with his family in Munich.
