Markus Kattner

Markus Kattner (born September 24, 1970 in Bayreuth ) is a German - Swiss football official. He has been FIFA Chief Financial Officer since 2003 and Deputy Secretary General since 2007.

Kattner grew up in Munich . He completed an engineering degree at the Technical University of Munich and received his doctorate from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne . Before he became Head of Finance for FIFA in 2003 and Deputy Secretary General in 2007, he worked at McKinsey in Switzerland . In September 2015, with the suspension of Jérôme Valcke, he became FIFA General Secretary ad interim. On May 23, 2016, Kattner was fired by FIFA on charges of abuse of fiduciary responsibility. Markus Kattner is currently taking legal action against what he sees as unjustified termination.

Kattner is married and has three daughters. In terms of sport, he was active in the German 2nd basketball league .
