Markus Kurz (born December 24, 1970 in Burg ) is a German CDU politician and a member of the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt .

Life and work

In 1987 Markus Kurz graduated from the "Erich Weinert" Burg polytechnic high school . This was followed in 1991 by the pedagogical college degree at IfL Staßfurt and the PH Magdeburg and in 1993 the pedagogical university degree for teaching at primary schools at the PH of the TU Otto v. Guericke in Magdeburg. In 1996 he completed an adaptation training course to become a state-approved educator . Further qualifications were added in 2000 and 2001: initially to manage the historical tannery in Burg and a year later as a museum employee at the Wolfenbüttel Federal Academy .

From 1994 to 1999 he was department head at the DRK JL eV and from 1999 to 2002 head of the construction of the Burger City Museum. He has been the after-school care center manager at DRK JL eV since 2002. His employment relationship is suspended during his mandate in the state parliament.

He is married and Protestant, has a son and a daughter.

politics

Kurz joined the Junge Union in 1993 and the CDU a year later. From 1998 to 2006 he was state chairman of the Junge Union Sachsen-Anhalt. Since the state elections in 2002, Kurz has been a directly elected member of the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt for constituency 06 (Burg) . From 2002 to 2006 he was youth policy spokesman and from 2006 to 2011 social policy speaker. Since 2011 he has been working for his parliamentary group in the Committee on Federal and European Affairs and the Media and in the Council of Elders. From 2006 to 2016 he was deputy chairman of the CDU parliamentary group in Saxony-Anhalt. Since 2016 he has been the parliamentary managing director of the CDU state parliamentary group in Saxony-Anhalt. Markus Kurz is a member of the state board of the CDU Saxony-Anhalt. From 1997 to 2016 he was chairman of the CDU Burg and deputy CDU district chairman in Jerichower Land. Since 2004 he has been parliamentary group leader of the CDU in the district council of Jerichower Land and since 2009 chairman of the city council in Burg. In 2004, 2009 and 2017 he was a member of the Federal Assembly for the election of the Federal President.

Further memberships

Kurz has been a member of the assembly of the State Media Authority of Saxony-Anhalt since 2003, and has been chairman of the board of this assembly since November 2015.
