Markus Tollmann (* 1963 in Gelsenkirchen-Buer ) is a German painter , draftsman and gallery owner .

Life

Tollmann grew up in an artistic and creative environment. He inherited the talent for painting from his father, Günter Tollmann . Niki de Saint-Phalle also belonged to the father's group . At the age of seven, Markus Tollmann studied the work of Pablo Picasso and painted with him personally. Tollmann's first own exhibition was opened at the age of nine.

At the age of 15 he was tutored by Joseph Beuys in private drawing lessons. At the age of 18, an intensive collaboration arose with the British artist Francis Bacon in Bacon's studio in London. He opened his first gallery at the age of 21 in 1984 in Bremen.
