Marlies Ixmeier

Marlies Ixmeier (* 4. October 1934 in Schneidemühl as Marlies Dölle ) is a former German basketball player .

Life

During her studies at the Institute for Physical Education of the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg between 1952 and 1955 , she came into contact with basketball and was discovered by Leo Hübner . Ixmeier played for SC Chemie Halle from 1955 to 1963 , led the Halle women as captain and won the basketball championship of the German Democratic Republic . She was appointed to the GDR women's national team 35 times, and in 1958 she took part in the European Championship in Poland . She was awarded the " Master of Sports " award. Ixmeier later worked as a sports teacher and later at the “Helene Lange” pedagogical college as a functionary in the basketball sport of the GDR, was represented on the board of the German Basketball Association and headed the women's commission, she was also a supervisor for the national team and trained School teams. Ixmeier played basketball himself until 2002.
