Marlon Hairston (born March 23, 1994 in Jackson ) is an American football player who is mostly used as a midfielder . He is currently under contract with the Colorado Rapids .

Career

Youth and amateur football

Hairston played on his university's football team, the Louisville Cardinals , while at the University of Louisville . He then signed a Generation Adidas contract with Major League Soccer and signed up for the MLS SuperDraft .

Club career

Hairston was chosen as the twelfth pick in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft by the Colorado Rapids on January 16, 2014 . After signing a professional contract there, he made his competitive debut against Sporting Kansas City on March 29, 2014 . He scored his first goal in the MLS on August 20, 2014 against LA Galaxy .

In April 2015, Hairston was loaned to Charlotte Independence in the United Soccer League .

National team

Hairston was invited by Tab Ramos to a training camp for the U-20 national team in April 2013 . A month later he took part in the Toulon tournament with this team , but did not appear in any game.

Private

Hairston is the cousin of NBA player LaMarcus Aldridge , who currently plays basketball for the San Antonio Spurs .
