Marlon Jordan

Marlon Jordan (born August 21, 1970 in New Orleans ) is an American jazz trumpeter .

Live and act

Jordan comes from a musical family; the saxophonist Kidd Jordan is his father, and his older brother Kent Jordan is also a jazz musician. He first received saxophone and violin lessons and also played drums before switching to the trumpet in fourth grade. In addition to studying at the Center for the Creative Arts in his hometown and taking private lessons, he completed summer courses in Tanglewood . In 1986/1987 he performed as a soloist with the New Orleans Symphony Orchestra . A little later he took part in recordings made by his brother. At the age of eighteen he presented his debut album For You Only , for which he received both good reviews and a chart success. With his hard bop quintet he played as opening act for Wynton Marsalis , George Benson and Miles Davis ; with this band he also performed at important American and European festivals. In 1991 he joined the all-star band Jazz Futures around Roy Hargrove and Benny Green . In 2005 he was with his sister Stephanie Jordan as "Ambassador of New Orleans" on a European tour. Jordan is also a film music composer and has recorded with Dennis González and Donald Harrison .
