Reproduction
Celebes earfish are free-spawners that spawn after violent forcing on finely feathered aquatic plants and the fine roots of floating leaves. In total, 30 to 50 yellowish eggs are released daily over a period of several months, usually in the morning hours, during the breeding season. The number of eggs decreases over the course of the spawning season. The young hatch after eight to eleven days with a length of seven millimeters. They are sexually mature after seven months.
