Marrawah is a small town in the state of Tasmania , on the largest island in Australia. It is Tasmania's westernmost settlement and is accessible via the Bass Highway . Marrawah is located on the western end of the island and is about 490 kilometers from Hobart .

Cattle and dairy farming are practiced in the vicinity of the place and tourism plays a not insignificant role. For tourists, it is a place for horse riding, surfing and fishing, as well as off-roading in four-wheel drive vehicles. There are holiday homes to rent in the village and a pub serving steaks and the large abalone snails from the sea, a local specialty, to eat.

A large Aboriginal sanctuary is located eight kilometers south of the mouth of the Arthur River on a ridge, Mount Cameron , which is covered over and over with circles and signs carved into stone.

The coastline is very rugged.
