Marshall Brickman

Marshall Brickman (born August 25, 1941 in Rio de Janeiro ) is an American screenwriter and Oscar winner. In Germany he is best known for his collaboration with Woody Allen .

Life

After attending the University of Wisconsin – Madison , he became a member of the folk music group The Tarriers in 1962 . After their breakup, he joined the group The New Journeymen with John Phillips and Michelle Phillips in 1964 , who later made a career with The Mamas and the Papas . In the mid- 1960s he began working as a screenwriter, initially for television. During this time he developed contact with Woody Allen, with whom he worked on several films, e. B. The Sleeper and The Urban Neurotic . For this film, he and Allen received the Oscar for best original screenplay .

In the 1980s , Brickman directed a number of films based on his own scripts and then re-wrote the script for Manhattan Murder Mystery , another Woody Allen film. Together with Rick Elice he wrote the musical Jersey Boys in 2005 , which is dedicated to the history of The Four Seasons .
